Several Nigerian artists, including Fireboy, Asake, Wande Coal, and many others, are currently facing criticism on Twitter from their countrymen for appearing at Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration concert.

The majority of young Nigerians believe that performers shouldn’t have attended the event to mark the inauguration.

A concert called “Renewed Hope” in honor of the APC flagbearer was held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja in advance of the President-Elect’s inauguration on May 29. Over forty Nigerian artists performed there to the delight of the crowd.

Popular performers including Asake, Fireboy, Timaya, Naira Marley, BNXN (Buju), Waje, Brymo, KCee, Seyi Vibez, Ice Prince, and a host of others attended the event, which was place on May 25, 2023.

Any Twitter users have voiced their view over the choices of famous musicians performing at the concert, with a court challenge regarding the validity of the election that named Tinubu as president-elect still in play.

A sizable portion of the audience criticized the performers for attending the event, while a portion of the audience thought the musicians’ performances were OK.
