Land Grabbing: Uzodimma Orders Arrest Of Ezeanochie, ISAMATA President, Dissolves Body

Governor Hope Uzodimma yesterday ordered the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Emmanuel Ezeanochie, the President of Imo State Amalgamated Traders Association( ISAMATA) for alleged offences ranging from land grabbing and illegal appropriation of market stalls using the name of the government for personal use.

This was made known to news men by Hon. Declan Emelumba, Imo State commissioner for information, public orientation and strategy as he said the order was in line with the resolve of the governor to get rid corruption in the state.

“In accordance with his resolve to rid the state of corruption in all sectors, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has ordered the arrest and detention of Mr Emmanuel Ezeanochie, the state chairman of Imo State Amalgamated Traders Association( ISAMATA)” said Emelumba.

He noted that the order was as a result of series of allegations of corruption leveled against Ezeanochie.

“The order followed allegations that Mr Ezeanochie fraudulently used the name of the government to illegally appropriate land and market stalls for his personal use.” he said.

The information commissioner also informed that the governor has ordered the immediate dissolution of the state market association led by Ezeanochie as the governor directed state security agencies to apprehend Mr. Ezeanochie with the view of investigating him and bring him to justice if indicted.

“In like manner, His Excellency has approved the immediate dissolution of the state executive Committee of ISAMTA.

“His Excellency further directs the relevant security agencies to expedite investigations into the allegations against the former chairman of ISAMATA, Mr Ezeanochie, and prosecute him if indicted.” he declared.
